2082 - Invalid MEDS-ID Change - New MEDS-ID Already in Use - Reject

This alert is received when the SSN is entered on the SSN Detail page to change (or add) a Social Security Number (MEDS-ID). The new number however, is already in use on MEDS/CDB. This error is a result of one of the following:

  • Either an incorrect SSN was entered in CalSAWS or is being used by other recipient in the same/other county.
  • The MEDS-ID was changed online by the MTO prior to adding or correcting the SSN in CalSAWS.

Refer to Approvals - SSN Erroneously Being Used by Another Person/County for instructions.

Action Required

Review the SSN entered on the SSN Detail page to ensure that it was entered correctly.

  • If entered correctly, check all data elements on [MEDS Online Worker Alert Detail] INWD screen to verify that the SSN is associated with the correct person. Corrective action may involve contacting another county to release our client’s SSN via a GadWIN ticket. If the SSN was entered correctly, and receipt of this alert is simply due to the MEDS-ID being changed online by the MTO prior to adding or correcting the SSN in CalSAWS, the alert can be ignored.
  • If the SSN was entered incorrectly in CalSAWS, enter the correct SSN on the SSN Detail page. This will trigger CalSAWS to generate an EW10 (MEDS-ID Change) transaction to MEDS/CDB and the MEDS-ID will be changed to the correct number.

Reminder: SSN (MEDS-ID) changes on validated SSN-VER code are limited. Refer to MEDS MEDS-ID/SSN Changes for details.
