9034 - Deemed Newborn - County Eligibility Determination Required - Critical
This alert is generated when an infant is deemed eligible via the CHDP Gateway enrollment process and the address of the enrollment transaction MATCHES the mother's address on MEDS.
This alert is used to notify the EW when an infant needs to be added to the mother's case.
If the address on the enrollment transaction does not match the mother's address on MEDS, the alert 9033 - DEEMED NEWBORN - MOM ADDRESS DIFF ON MEDS - VERIFY ELIG, is no longer generated. The mother CIN is restored and displayed on [INQP] screen of the infant.

Possible Screens to Resolve This Alert
- ReviewReview newborn’s INQ1 screen for eligibility and address information:
- ReviewReview mom’s INQM screen for eligibility and address information:
- CheckCheck mom’s INQW screen to see if newborn has been added to case:
The INQW screen for mom’s case serial number displays all records associated with mom’s case. Note that there are no records displayed that match the newborn’s DOB of 2/2/07. Mom and newborn have the same address according to newborn’s INQ1 and mom’s INQM screens.
Action Required
- Clear mom’s CIN shown on the alert message against CalSAWS and MEDS to determine the case number.
- Confirm whether the newborn is still living with mom.
- If the newborn is living with mom, add the newborn to the mom’s case for Medi-Cal effective the newborn’s date of birth.
IMPORTANT: When adding the newborn to mom's case, the EW must use the MEDS-ID or CIN on the newborn’s MEDS record to prevent duplicate records from being created and to terminate the CHDP Gateway record.
- If the newborn is NOT living with mom, submit an SCD 1296 requesting the MTO to terminate the CHDP-Gateway record.
- If the newborn is already added to mom’s case under a DIFFERENT MEDS-ID, determine what is a GOOD CIN/MEDS-ID and submit a SCD 1296 requesting an EW11 transaction to combine the two records.
