ISDX - SSI/SSP Client SDX Inquiry Request

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has developed a series of five MEDS inquiry screens to display relevant data from the State Data Exchange (SDX) file. This information is used by counties to process Medi-Cal for the denied SSI/SSP applications that were filed with Social Security Administration (SSA).

The five SDX inquiry screens are:

  • SDX1 - Client Data From MEDS
  • SDX2 - Client Address Data From MEDS
  • SDX3 - Client Information
  • SDX4 - Client Income/Status Data
  • SDX5 - Household Information

To Obtain

  • From a blank MEDS screen, type ISDX to access the “SSI/SSP Client SDX Inquiry Request” database.
  • Enter the applicant’s SSN and press Enter.
  • If the SSN is not known to SDX, an error message “X702 No SDX Record Found” will be displayed on the bottom of the ISDX screen.
  • The first inquiry screenfirst inquiry screen [SDX1] will appear.


  • Press F8 to move forward to the next SDX inquiry screen or type X2/X3/X4 on Option field from any SDX inquiry screens. Press F7 to go back to the previous screen. Press Enter to return to the [ISDX] main request screen.

SDX1 - SDX/INQUIRY - CLIENT DATA FROM MEDS

This inquiry screen displaysinquiry screen displays client information plus current MEDS information. The SDX1 is the first screen that identifies the applicant. Information provided includes:


  • Client demographic data,
  • Citizenship/identity type,
  • Authorized representative address, etc.

SDX2 - SDX INQUIRY - CLIENT ADDRESS DATA FROM MEDS

This inquiry screen displaysinquiry screen displays client information plus current MEDS information. The SDX2 is the second screen that identifies the applicant. Information provided includes:


  • Applicant’s residence/mailing address,
  • Home/work phone number,
  • Residence indicator,
  • Address flag, etc.

SDX3 - SDX INQUIRY - CLIENT INFORMATION

This inquiry screen displaysinquiry screen displays client information plus current MEDS information. The SDX3 is the third screen that identifies the applicant. Information provided includes:


  • SSI application date,
  • SSI denial date/reason,
  • Disability onset date,
  • Resources,
  • Medicare entitlement, etc.

SDX4 - SDX INQUIRY - CLIENT INCOME/STATUS DATA

This inquiry screen displaysinquiry screen displays client information plus current MEDS information. The SDX4 is the fourth screen that identifies the applicant. Information provided includes:


  • Earned, unearned and self-employment income,
  • Deemed income, student status,
  • Eligibility determination data, etc.

SDX5 - SDX INQUIRY - HOUSEHOLD INFORMATION

This inquiry screen displaysinquiry screen displays client information plus current MEDS information. The SDX5 is the fifth screen that identifies the applicant. Information provided includes:


  • Eligible spouse/essential person and their earnings,
  • Household composition, etc.
