2020 - Recipient Not Active on MEDS/CDB - Reject

This alert is generated when a transaction is generated to put a Hold on a recipient’s MEDS record or to release a Hold, but the recipient isn’t active on MEDS. Since the person isn’t currently active, the transaction is inappropriate and has been rejected.

This CalSAWS usually means there is a previous uncorrected MEDS Add (EW20) transaction and the person never got activated appropriately to MEDS or was discontinued erroneously.

Action Required

Review both the CalSAWS record and the INQM [Primary Medi-Cal/CMSP Information] screen for the person in order to identify the problem. Corrective action will depend on what caused the error initially. Usually an SCD 1296 will have to be completed, requesting the MTO generate the appropriate Add (EW20) and/or Modify (EW30) transactions to not only establish eligibility for the required month(s), but to also establish a Hold on the record (if appropriate), once the MEDS record has been activated.
