2078 - Recipient Already Active in Another County - Priority Reject

This alert is generated when an EW20 (Add New Client Record) transaction was submitted for a recipient who is already active in another county for part or all of the time period covered by the transaction. If this daily alert is not resolved, Recon alert 6001 Recon Record on County/Not on MEDS and/or Recon alert 6017 Critical Field Discrepancies-Displayed Data Fields Updated will be generated during Recon run.

This error is usually caused by failure to identify the applicant as an active recipient in another county. To avoid this error, EWs should always check MEDS, INQM screen on each person being approved prior to taking approval transaction via CalSAWS.

Per the MEDS INQM screen, the recipient was active in another county for the time period covered by the transaction.

Action Required

  • The EW must contact the recipient to determine the actual county of residence and prior history of welfare assistance if needed.
  • The EW reviews MEDS records to determine what county clients’ eligibility is on. An EW05 online transaction may be required to transfer the client’s benefit for future month to a new county.
  • If appropriate, the EW must also contact the EW in the other county to request an ICT be initiated.
  • The application must be held until the ICT is received. If applicable, an overpayment must be computed, along with an appropriate referral to SIU/FRED.
