2031 - MEDS-ID Change Not Permitted for Validated SSAN - Priority Reject

This alert is generated when an EW10 (MEDS-ID Change) transaction is generated for a person whose current MEDS-ID has been validated by the Social Security Administration in Baltimore (SSN-VER Code = A through D or J through M). Once an SSN has been validated, it cannot be changed until the SSN-VER Code has been lifted by MEDS Coordinator.

ReviewReview the Primary Medi-Cal/CMSP Information INQM screen for the eligibility segment involved in the error.

The SSN verification code of J indicates that this SSN has been verified by the Social Security Administration as belonging to this recipient.

Refer to MEDS Data Element Dictionary Overview for a list of the values displayed.

Refer to MEDS MEDS-ID/SSN Changes for instructions which must be followed.

Action Required

Compare the number on the SSN Detail page to the number in the MEDS-ID field on INQM screen.

If the number was entered in CalSAWS incorrectly, enter the correct number on the SSN field on the SSN Detail page.
If the number in CalSAWS is correct, and the number in MEDS/CDB is incorrect, the client must be referred to the Social Security Administration with an MC 194. In the interim, the SSN which matches MEDS/CDB must be re-entered on the SSN Detail page.

When the MC194 is returned with the correct SSN for the recipient, submit a GadWIN ticket to request the SSN verification code removal (EW03 transaction completed by MEDS Coordinator) prior to completing EW10 transaction to change the MEDS ID.
