IEVS Applicant System
IEVS is a centralized system which performs a computer cross-match of income and asset information for all applicants with a valid SSN. Using the IEVS Applicant System, EWs can request:
- Wage/employer information, UI and DI payment history from the EDD.
- Asset and interest information from the California State FTB.
- Title II Social Security, Title XVI SSI/SSP benefit information, Forty-Quarter Work History and National Prisoner Match from the SSA.
- CalWORKs and CalFresh disqualification and overpayment/overissuance information.
Note: Unlike the Applicant System, the IEVS Recipient System is not online and information cannot be requested through the MEDS network. Refer to Income Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) of the Common Place Handbook for a detailed discussion of the Recipient System.
Refer to DEBS Common Business Processes (DCBP) Handbook (HB) Chapter 6 for more information.]
When is Applicant IEVS Generated
If the applicant’s SSN is present in CalSAWS, a batch transaction is automatically generated to request IEVS information when:
- Application Registration is completed, or
- A person is added to an active case.
IEVS matches can also be manually requested by these two methods:
- Sending an IEVS request via IEVS Applicant Request List page in the Financial section of the Task Navigation bar. See CalSAWS "Job Aid (JA) IEVS Abstracts and SAVE" for instructions.
- Requesting an AP20/AP21/AP25 transaction online transaction in MEDS.
IEVS reports for an undocumented alien applicant/beneficiary can be generated via CalSAWS if a false SSN is provided. To generate, enter the false SSN on Previous Names and Previous Social Security Numbers sections of the Individual Demographic Detail page.
Within three to five calendar days, the matched information is available for viewing in the IEVS Abstracts page. The IEVS Abstract is transmitted back to the county when matches from all reporting sources/agencies (e.g., FTB, EDD, SSA, etc.) have been completed. See CalSAWS “Job Aid (JA) IEVS Abstracts” for instructions.
While waiting for the Abstract to return, the EW may wish to run online inquiries on the IEVS database in MEDS to view what, if any, match results have taken place. Within one to three calendar days after the EW’s submission of applicant data, completed match data, if any, is available for viewing.
Refer to Inquiry Options Available to Workers for more information.
