Presumptive Eligibility
Emergency Support Payment Pending Eligibility Determination - GA Policy [274]
The Social Services Agency may make an emergency support payment pending a determination of eligibility. The amount is not to exceed 25 percent of the maximum monthly aid payment to which the person or persons are entitled.
The payment may be in the form of transportation/bus tokens or shelter/utility payments.
Criteria
With supervisory approval, the EW may issue a presumptive payment, not to exceed 25 percent of the maximum monthly aid payment to which the person or persons are entitled and all the criteria below is met:
- The applicant is in dire need and is or will be homeless within the next five days; AND
- Eligibility is apparent (need not be verified yet); AND
- The applicant has NOT received a presumptive payment in the last twelve-month period.
Note: If an applicant has been issued a presumptive payment and has not provided any remaining required verifications within 5 working days of the initial EW interview, the application will be denied. The presumptive payment will be deducted as income from any subsequent GA grant to which he/she may be eligible.
