Shared Housing - GA [282]
A recipient who resides in a shared shelter arrangement shall not receive more than the amount authorized for shared shelter UNLESS she or he resides in a living unit with permanent bathroom and kitchen facilities which are not shared with any other resident.
When the responsibility for total housing and utility costs is divided between the occupants or when there is no specific sub-rental or any agreement between occupants, the living arrangement is assumed to be shared and the ceiling (maximum grant) on shared housing is applicable. In situations like this General Assistance will not be paid without applying the shared housing policy (i.e., when there is more than one occupant this includes a guest.) Refer to the following:
- [Refer to “GA 280 — Maximum Aid Payments,” under Policy],
- Personal Needs Option
- [Refer to "Needs Standards" in the Chart Book].
