Methods of Conducting an Assessment
An assessment can be completed in a variety of ways. Some Third-Party Partners utilize assessment forms for client completion, while others allow the CFET staff to objectively assess the client in-person. Also, some Third-Party Partners contract with other related programs such as WIOA, One-Stop Career Centers, etc. or non-government agencies to provide a more comprehensive assessment. However, a comprehensive intake and employability assessment should be considered to identify client's service needs and barriers to employment.
Comprehensive Intake Assessment
A comprehensive intake assessment is the initial meeting with the participant during which the case manager gathers information to address the participant’s immediate needs to encourage engagement in CFET services. This includes collecting and evaluating information to identify a participant’s employment capabilities, interests, barriers, and supportive service needs
Employability Assessment
An employability assessment examines an individual's readiness for employment; assesses skills such as applied academic skills, interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and communication skills; identifies barriers to work; and highlights past work experience. Job skills assessments, which determine whether an individual has the skills appropriate for a specific job, may be included in the employability assessment.
