* VTR is limited to a 12-month lifetime limit.

** Job Search/Job Readiness activities are limited to 6 weeks (12 weeks if considered a needy state) in a 12-month period.

Pregnant Person Only

PPO age 19 or older, with no other eligible children in the home, is eligible for CalWORKs at any stage of their of pregnancy. The participation requirement for PPOs is aligned with the participation requirement for single-parent AUs with a child under six, which is 20 hours per week.

Pregnant 18-year-olds with no other eligible children in the home, who have obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent, are eligible for CalWORKs anytime upon verification of pregnancy.

Homeschooling

Homeschooling is not an allowable WTW activity. While a parent maintains the right to home-school his/her children, making this choice does not meet the basic intention of the WTW participation requirements. WTW is a comprehensive statewide employment program designed to enable participants to achieve self-sufficiency.
